Carer jailed for Salisbury Milton Manor care home abuse

A carer who abused elderly dementia patients at a care home in Salisbury has been jailed for five months.

Agneszkia Sztokmanska, 45, a former senior care worker at Milford Manor Care Home, punched residents, pulled their hair and called them "idiots".

She was found guilty of five counts of ill-treatment under Section 44 of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 at an earlier hearing at Salisbury Crown Court.

Care home owner Matthew Airie said Sztokmanska was a "one-off".

Adding she was a "rogue member of staff", Mr Airie said: "No-one has the right to come into our care facilities and behave like this."

Sztokmanska was found not guilty of a further two counts under the same charge of ill-treatment on 26 September.

During the trial. the jury heard she was seen on four occasions throwing shoes at one patient, to make him sit down and was described by a colleague as a "Jekyll and Hyde" character.
