Chaotic state of care

Martin Green Chief Executive of ECCA speaks out  via Daily Telegraph
In a letter to the Daily Telegraph Martin Green writes "SIR – In its last “State of Care” report, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) noted that “a small minority of care services fell below minimum standards of safety and quality”.

Dame Jo Williams, chairman of the CQC, recently acknowledged that state funding is to be cut. This is in a service that has been underfunded for years.

The regulator has done nothing about this, despite having been responsible for assessing public sector commissioners. It is treating the symptoms but ignoring the cause.

The CQC is a chaotic institution with severe problems: it takes 120 days to register a care provider. It should be delivering professional standards.
