CQC responds to joint investigation by The Sunday Times and Channel 4s Dispatches on instances of poor home care by two providers
The Sunday Times published a story, which exposed serious failings in care in people"s own homes in two specific locations " the Haringey branch of Sevacare and the Hillingdon branch of Care Outlook.
A national review of end-of-life care has found many hospitals are failing to provide face-to-face palliative care specialists around the clock.The review shows only 16 of 142 hospital sites in England offer specialists on site 24/7.
Following a public consultation last year, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) has outlined the fees that providers of health and adult social care in England will pay from April 2016 to cover the costs of their regulation.
In the past week the Care Quality Commission has published a further 85 reports on the quality of care provided by adult social care services across London and the South of England.
Commenting on the introduction of the new State Pension from this Wednesday 6 April, Janet Morrison, Chief Executive of Independent Age, said:"In the long run, these reforms will give us a simpler system that should help reduce pensioner poverty. But as we enter a potentially confusing transition period, the state pension system remains complex and hard for older people to navigate. And we can"t forget the 1.6 million older people living in poverty right now who won"t benefit from these reforms.
