CQC have appointed two new permanent Heads of Registration who will support the Chief Inspector of Adult Social Care and Corporate Lead for Registration, Andrea Sutcliffe, in delivering all registration activities across health and adult social care services in England.
The appointees are:
Julia Denham, (Acting Head of Registration at CQC)
Head of Registration leading the North and Central teams – already in post.
Deborah Cotton-Soares (Director at the EC Roberts Centre)
Head of Registration leading the South and London teams – joining at the end of July 2014.
Managing our Registration Inspectors and Managers, the new posts will be responsible for registering every organisation that wishes to provide health or adult social care services in England, amending the registration details of organisations that already provide these services, as well as establishing a programme of continuous improvement to ensure our processes are effective and efficient.
In the last financial year (1 April 2013 to 31 March 2014), CQC registration team handled over 18,517 new applications and almost 30,430 applications to vary registration from existing providers.
An important role in our new approach

Andrea Sutcliffe, Chief Inspector of Adult Social Care and Corporate Lead for Registration said: “I am delighted to announce the appointments of our two Heads of Registration. Julia has ably led the team on an acting basis over the last year and brings with her valuable expertise and experience in regulation and registration which will be a great benefit for CQC. Deborah’s successful career in the housing, care and support sector means that she will bring a fresh and informed perspective to our work in registration and will be a great new addition to our team.”
